Paris // December 2018

Bonjour y'all! Let's put on our barrettes and grab a croissant because we're going to Paris!

Me and my sister-in-law decided it would be a fun idea to hop on a bus and visit Paris for a day, so we did. We left our city in the middle of the night and arrived in Paris bright and early!

First order of business was to get ourselves a real French croissant and some metro cards, which are so cute and tiny, I fully plan on hanging them on my wall as souvenirs, lol. After getting off near the Seine we grabbed a croissant and walked over the bridge to the Notre Dame. It was pretty quiet everywhere, it was rainy and cold, plus out of season, so we were lucky in that aspect. We had the time to check everything out without having to deal with other people getting in our way.

We layed our eyes on these pretty buildings on our way to Louvre museum. Of course everyone has heard of that place and it's not without reason, it's beautiful! Gorgeous architecture and inside resides beautiful sculptures, intriguing paintings and other awesome stuff. Oh, the best part? Our tickets were free since we're under 26 and EU residents, rad!

And the ceilings? The Ceilings! It's so cool how they made those things back in the day. So many details, 3d things and paintings woven together.

The room in this last picture especially took my interest. I don't know but there's something about the mirror and painting combination that's so beautiful.

Once outside again we spotted a Christmas market so we took a look there and were greeted by all kinds of sweet and savory smells. People were cooking food in crazy big pans and everything was decorated in fairylights. Me and my sister got some lunch, she chose a pizza sandwich and I went with a bucket of oliebollen (deep fried raisin buns) with chocolate (which was a disaster to eat gracefully by the way).

So, we left the sea of lights and food scents and walked to the Grand palais and Petit palais. The Grand palais has a glass ceiling which is SO cool! I would really love to go inside one day and see it. However, for this way it was time to catch our next stop in the city. We catched another metro, which had a street musician in it, who made the ride even more fun (yes I think metros are fun). We entered a huge store which had a monstrosoty of a Christmas tree hanging from the ceiling, with about a million and ten lights. So. Many. Lights. It was visible from all the, like, eleven floors. Yes it was that kind of a store haha.

Stepping outside we could almost swim our way to our next destination, that's how how bad it was pooring rain lol! Thankfully we had our umbrellas with us. Unfortunately we couldn't get in the next place which happened to be Cemètiere Montmartre. All cemeteries in Paris are so beautiful and have gorgeous architectured houses and graves. A bridge went over this place so I was able to see it from there and get a few pictures to share with you too!

So, we decided to walk around in the streets of Montmartre, which are super cute and cozy. Once again the Christmas lights everywhere made it look ten times cozier. And of course there was a market here aswell, a tiny one at that but nonetheless super cute. And it was right next to a cool-looking church/building thing.

And then there was the Sacre Coeur! Ah, such a gorgeous sight, this building atop of the hill, definitely one of the coolest buildings in Paris.

When we started ascending the stairs the sun came through! the light fell on top of the houses and gave it all such a pretty look. With the clouds gone we were also able to see the sunset together with the Paris landscape, which was really cool! We could find almost every building we visited, so it was fun to see where everything was from above.

A building next to the Sacre Coeur had their lights shining through reddish stained glass, which made it look super spooky and beautiful. There's something with red light coming from church-like buildings in the half dark, beautiful.
Also, someone was making music on an accordeon, which absolutely confirmed we were in France, haha!

While descending the stairs again we had to deal with someone in front of us yelling in French to streetlamps, which made me want to understand the language so bad, because I'm so interested in what he wanted those streetlamps to know!
After grabbing dinner in a good old fashioned McDonald's we headed to, of course, le Eiffeltowerr!

Since being there in 2006 or something they have built a kind of gate around the tower so you can't just walk underneath it anymore. So, we waited in line, which took up the majority of the time we had left, resulting in us not being able to climb the thing anymore. But that's ok, we had fun singing random Dutch songs while waiting so we enjoyed it nevertheless!

Dan ben ik alsnog, in de lucht als sterrenstof...
(it's this song if you want to hear it for yourself, haha)

Our metro back to the bus station was above ground + above the city kind of, so that was pretty cool! I'm fascinated with metro's anyway, since we don't have any where I live, but this was really fun to have experienced. It may be a boring thing to get excited for but hey! At least I had fun. :)

Je vous souhaite une bonne fin de journée,
